DG GROW’s workshop “Biobased Industries and Biomaterials - Opportunities for Acceleration”

On 10th May DG GROW organized a workshop “Biobased Industries and Biomaterials - Opportunities for Acceleration”. They discussed about many relevant issues such as: how can they stimulate the demand for bio-innovation chemicals, and biobased materials and products, e.g., through public procurement, standardisation, and labelling; in which areas and how could the EU accelerate the uptake of biobased materials, products and chemicals; which specific skills shortages are currently an obstacle to scaling up biobased production processes; what are the main issues to be addressed regarding the availability/supply and price of biobased feedstocks at a longer term.
